Survey Camp Quantitative UX Research Training November 17-19, 2025

Build Quantitative UX Research Expertise

Survey Camp is a workshop series teaching the rigorous methodology behind survey design and data analysis that drives major product decisions. You'll learn the statistical foundations, advanced analysis techniques, and presentation strategies that distinguish senior researchers and quantitative specialists.

Most UX researchers learn surveys informally through trial and error or by adapting qualitative approaches. This series gives you the formal training in survey science that's rarely taught but increasingly essential as products scale and organizations mature.
  • Design survey questions based on proven science
  • Find correlations in your data that lead to deeper insights into user behavior, more rigorous segmentation
  • Find hidden patterns, relationships, and drivers in your data using factor analysis
  • Test statistical significance to separate signal from noise
  • Visualize and present data that tells a story, engages stakeholders, and drives big decisions
  • Learn sustainable ways to build a respondent pool to get the most relevant, helpful data

How Survey Camp will help you grow quant skills, fast

We teach skills you can apply immediately.

We design our workshops and courses to dive immediately into relevant topics and then fill in the contextual knowledge that is necessary. There's no slow build-up; you will be applying quantitative UX research methods right away

We make statistical concepts accessible, regardless of your background.

We teach using plain language, not academic jargon. Complex concepts are broken down, with easy-to-understand examples.

We teach through real-world examples.

Actively engaging with real-world examples helps everyone learn faster and more deeply. We critique actual surveys from real companies, and apply principles to real-world challenges.

Survey Camp Counselors

Leo Hoar, PhD
Leo founded the UXR Institute to elevate researchers' strategic influence, drawing on nearly a decade of UX research experience at Samsung, Beam Benefits, and various startups where he built teams and drove business impact. His 15 years of university teaching shape the Institute's practical, engagement-driven educational philosophy.
HarmoniJoie Noel, PhD
Dr. HarmoniJoie Noel is a Senior Mixed Methods Researcher with a PhD in Sociology and Survey Research Methodology, bringing 15 years of specialized expertise in survey design, healthcare research, and patient experience studies across prestigious organizations including RTI International, CDC's National Center for Health Statistics, and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Cheryl Abellanoza, PhD
Cheryl is the Associate Director of UX research at Verizon Connect, and leads her team with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods drawn from behavioral science and cognitive psychology, which she integrates with qualitative approaches to deeply understand user behavior and perceptions.
Y. Patrick Hsieh, PhD
Y. Patrick Hsieh is a Principal Research Scientist at ReconMR with over 12 years of expertise in mixed methods research, combining user-centered design, survey methodology, and data analytics to deliver strategic insights for complex business challenges. Holding a Ph.D. in Media, Technology, and Society from Northwestern University, he specializes in designing comprehensive research projects that blend qualitative and quantitative methods.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I learn quantitative UX research?

Become a more valuable partner. Product teams speak the language of numbers. When you can design rigorous surveys and interpret statistical results, you become a trusted partner in product strategy.

Advance your career. Quantitative skills, and in some cases quantitative fluency, are often required to advance to the next level, especially to positions managing dedicated quantitative researchers.

Differentiate yourself. Most UX researchers come from qualitative backgrounds and feel intimidated by numbers. Quantitative skills are rare but increasingly necessary as products scale and organizations mature.

I already do surveys. What more is there to learn?

Surveys are the most deceptively difficult research method. For starters, designing questions based on intuition or using the standards of qualitative research is likely to produce flawed, unusable data. Researchers who have not been formally trained in survey methodology often have a lot to learn in question design alone.

Understanding data analysis methods is also essential. The whole point of running surveys is to gather data at scale, and analysis methods like correlation or factor analysis derive insights that will not be accessible without these methods.

Do these workshops require a knowledge of statistics?

Except for the workshop on factor analysis, which requires some basic statistics, no statistical knowledge is required, and the workshops are designed to teach the basic statistical concepts required to learn the workshop topic.

Will the workshops and events be recorded?

Yes. For any workshops or events you register for, you will get access to the recording after Survey Camp is over.

Do I need bug spray?

Survey Camp is a live, online event you can attend from indoors if you wish. If you decide to attend while outside, bug spray may be recommended, depending on your location.
